SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Junior forward Lindsey Arndt scored four of her six points in the last 1.2 seconds to lead the University of New Mexico to a hard-fought 47-44 victory over San Diego State on Saturday evening at the Peterson Gym. New Mexico (18-7) swept its final road trip, winning its sixth straight to improved to 10-2 in the Mountain West Conference. San Diego State falls to 4-10 in MWC play and 8-17 overall.

San Diego State held a 44-43 lead with 15 seconds left but missed two one-and-one opportunities. On the last free throw attemp, Arndt grabbed the rebound and outletted to freshman guard Fatima Maddox who pushed it up the floor. Maddox penetrated and dished off to Arndt for the lay in and the 45-44 lead.

The Aztecs' tried to inbound the ball with 1.2 seconds remaining but couldn't, throwing it the length of the court and into the crowd. The Lobos got the ball back and passed it in to Arndt who was fouled with .2 seconds remaining. Arndt nailed both free throws to give the Lobos the three point lead.

New Mexico held a 22-18 lead at the break, following a sluggish first half. Almost half of the Lobos scoring (10 points) came off the bench from sophomore guard Abbie Letz (six points) and junior forward Jenny Shetters (four points).

For the game, UNM and SDSU shot 35 percent from the floor. The Lobos dominated the boards, holding a 39-26 advantage in rebounds. At the charity stripe, New Mexico made 10 of 12 while San Diego State was 0-2.

Maddox led the Lobos in scoring with 12 points while Shetters and Letz each finished with 11. San Diego State's Coutney Fritz led all scores with 14 and Michelle Elliott chipped in 13.

New Mexico returns home Thursday for its final two games before the conference tournament. Hosting Wyoming, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
