ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Lobos couldn't have asked for a better day to win. The sun was shining, there was little to no wind and it was the last time that the seniors will ever play at home. The Lobos put up a perfect score against Fresno State 7-0 with a clinch win at number five singles by Mads Hegelund.

The match started off with doubles with the Lobos completely dominating across the board.

UNM got the momentum rolling in their favor with a win at number three 8-3 and sealed the doubles point at number one with a score of 8-6. With the point decided already, a tiebreak took place at number two with the Lobos winning that also with a score of 8-7 (7-1).

The Lobos were up on the board 1-0 over the Bulldogs as they headed into singles.

The first off the court was senior Conor Berg with a 6-1, 6-4 victory against Sai Kartik Nakireddi. The Lobos were now up 2-0.

At the number one court, senior Jadon Phillips took the first set with ease over Felipe Fritz 6-3. The second was another story. Fritz had the upper hand in the second set on the verge of clinching it at 5-2. Phillips was not going to call it quits and powered through to win five straight games to win the match with a final score of 6-3, 7-5.

Shortly after Phillips' win, Hegelund sealed the `W' for the Lobos at number five with a score of 6-0, 6-4.

With the win in UNM's hands, that gave even more energy to the remaining Lobos on the courts to win their matches for the perfect score. At number two, Samir Iftikhar fell in the first set but took the second and third to win the match with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-2). At number four, Mitch McDaniels came through to win in three sets 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.

The last on court was sophomore James Hignett who won with the support of his cheerful teammates with a three set score of 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.

UNM defeated Fresno State 7-0 and are now 10-11 overall. Fresno State drops to 7-14 overall after the loss.

The Lobos will remain on the road for the rest of the season to face Nevada * on April 12, 2013 and San Diego State * on April 14, 2013, each on their own respective courts.
