Franklin Named USTFCCA Mountain Region Coach Of The Year

The University of New Mexico track and field head coach Joe Franklin has been named United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCA) Mountain Region Men's Coach of the Year Friday. The award is voted on by Franklin's coaching peers.

Franklin is in his third as head coach at New Mexico and was recently named 2010 MWC Men's Track and Field Coach of the Year.

At present Coach Franklin is helping seven of his athletes prepare the NCAA Finals beginning June 9 in Eugene, Ore.

During Franklin's three-year tenure he has coached eight athletes to All-American honors, sent a record number 26 athletes to the NCAA regionals May 27-30, 2010 and currently has seven athletes that rank top-10 in the country in their respective events.
