Berkeley, Calif. - Lamaar Thomas isn't nicknamed Flash for nothing. The sophomore transfer ran a time of 10.79, good for a second place finish in the preliminaries of the 100m dash at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley, Calif. The time was good enough to qualify for finals where Thomas went on to take first place with a time of 10.70.

Freshman De'Vron Walker continues to impress as he took first place in the finals of the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.53. The time was a season-best for the freshman. Walker ran a time of 14.67 in the prelims to qualify for finals.

Junior Deanna Young did what she does best and took first in the triple jump with a mark of 43-00.25 (13.11m).
Freshman Richard York also qualified for the finals in the 110m hurdles. York ran a time of 15.37 in the prelims to qualify and finished the day with a time of 15.70 in the finals.
Also finishing the day in the top three of their respective events or with personal bests are:
Freshman Tawsha Brazley ran a season best 56.09 in the 400m
Freshman Shirley Pitts ran a time of 55.26 in the 400m good for a fifth place finish and a season best
Freshman Derek Montoya ran a season best in the 400m with a time of 49.70
Freshman Sam Potter jumped a mark of 16-01.25 (4.91m) for a third place finish and a season best
Junior Patrick Ortiz ran a 14:46.64 in the 5K, setting a new PR
Senior Tami Williams threw a mark of 150-11 (46.01m) for a first place finish in her heat and ninth place finish
Freshman Shirley Pitts ran a new PR in the 200m with a time of 24.68, good for a fifth place finish
Senior Sarah Swartwood threw a mark of 148-11 (45.38m) for a second place finish in her heat, 10th place finish
Sophomore Amber Menke took second place with the pole vault with a mark of 12-00.50 (3.67m)
Freshman Janna Mitsos ran 16:59.45 in the 5K, good for second place
The sprinters, jumpers and throwers will be back in action next weekend, May 1, at home for the New Mexico's first outdoor meet of the season, the 20th Don Kirby Memorial Invitational.
