Stevens Tied for 40th at NCAA West Regional

Lobo junior Sammi Stevens had a rough start for the second consecutive day and dropped into a tie for 40th place after two rounds at the NCAA West Regional at Stanford, Calif.

Starting on the No. 10 tee this afternoon, Stevens bogeyed six of the first eight holes and finished with a round of 76 (5 over) at the Stanford Golf Course (par-71, 6,267 yards). She has a 36-hole total of 7-over 149.

Stevens is eight shots behind the top two individuals, San Jose State's Regan De Guzman and Jennifer Ha from Kent State, who are at 141. Stevens is in 15th place among the individuals attempting to qualify for nationals. The top eight teams and top two individuals not part of the qualifying teams advance to the NCAA Championships May 21-24 at Athens, Ga.

Southern Cal's Annie Park maintained the overall individual lead at 4-under 138 (67-71).

Stevens begins her final round Saturday at 9:25 a.m. Mountain Time.
