ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- It is the perfect time to be in Albuquerque, and coincidentally, the perfect time to play tennis. The University of New Mexico men's tennis team hosts their annual Balloon Fiesta Invitational this weekend, Oct. 8-10 at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex.
The invite features over 50 players from eight teams, including the University of Denver, Northern Arizona University, New Mexico State University, the Air Force Academy, New Mexico Military Institute, Western New Mexico University and the University of Northern Colorado.
Lobo junior Carl Ho returns as the two-time defending champion of the event and will look to maintain his title. Ho is seeded No. 1 for the Invitational and has a first round bye. He begins play at noon on Friday against DU's Alex Clinkerbeard.
Lobo head coach Alan Dils is looking forward to the invitational and anticipating it as a chance for many of the players to gain experience.
"It will be a great opportunity to get our guys a lot of matches," Dils said.
Seven Lobo players will compete this weekend in singles and doubles action.
