Mike Mulcahy is in his third year with the University of New Mexico Athletic Communications office. Mulcahy joined the Communications department as a communications assistant in the summer of 2011 as the primary media contact for the New Mexico men's and momen's track and field squads. He was later tasked as the primary contact for the Lobos' nationally ranked men's and women's cross country teams in early 2012. On top of his other responsibilities, Mulcahy was made the secondary contact for UNM's top-25 men's basketball team in 2013.

Mulcahy is a graduate of Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, where he graduated in the top three percent of his class and was named a National Hispanic Scholar. He lettered three years in speech and debate while at Eldorado and qualified to nationals his senior year.

Majoring in journalism with a concentration in multimedia journalism, Mulcahy has strong ties to the University of New Mexico athletic program, as his great grandfather, Harold Ignatius Mulcahy, and grandfather, Jack Mulcahy, both were lettermen for Lobos men's basketball from 1925-27 and 1952-55, respectively.
