Tim Cass
Position: Deputy Athletic Director
Alma Mater: New Mexico '87 - B.A.
Experience: 8 Years

Tim Cass is entering his ninth year and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer. A former Lobo men's tennis player and head coach, Cass brings a unique passion and vision to his position within the Lobo Athletics Department.

Cass serves as the sport oversight for football, men's basketball, men's and women's tennis. In addition, he oversees UNM's Nike contract, facilities, game management, the letterman's association, the Lobo Tennis Club and capital projects.  In the last seven years UNM has seen approximately $100 million in facility upgrades and renovations for Lobo Athletics. Cass recently oversaw an 18-month, $60 million renovation of The Pit, rejuvenating the building. The renovation was featured in the April 2011 edition of Athletics Administration magazine as the featured article.

In May, he was inducted into the ITA Hall of Fame for his work as a collegiate tennis coach and administrator.

Cass, who was previously the head men's tennis coach at Texas A&M, was one of the most respected Division I head coaches in the nation and guided both the Lobos and the Aggies to unprecedented success. During Cass' 10 seasons at Texas A&M (1997-06), the Aggies won four Big 12 titles, reached the Sweet 16 or better in the NCAA Tournament six years in a row and lead the nation in attendance. He also won five consecutive WAC titles (1991-95), went to six straight NCAA Tournaments and guided New Mexico to a No. 6 national ranking in 1995 during his eight seasons at UNM.

Just as impressive as his coaching resume are Cass's accomplishments as an administrator and fund-raiser. During his time at Texas A&M, he was directly responsible for raising over $4.5 million to help enhance the tennis program and facilities.

During his collegiate career for the Lobos, Cass was a three-time All-WAC honoree and was an All-American in doubles in 1986. After graduating from UNM in 1987 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and was named the head tennis coach of the Lobos at age 23.

Cass is married to the former Laura Wood, who is an Albuquerque native and UNM graduate. The couple has two sons, Dylan Craig, Hayden Francis, and a daughter Ashlyn Anne. Laura is an attorney in private practice in Albuquerque.
