NEW MEXICO: Enters his second season at a volunteer assistant coach...returns to UNM after a professional career.

Professional Career:Barba spent the last two seasons as a middle infielder in the Atlanta Braves organization, reaching High-A Myrtle Beach in 2010. In 2009, Barba started 120 games at shortstop for the Rome Braves- Atlanta's Low-A affiliate. Initially signing with the Milwakee Brewers out of college in 2006, Barba spent two season in that organization, reaching Hi-A Brevard County in 2007. In between his stints with the Braves and Brewers Barba spent one season in the independent Golden Baseball League with the Yuma Scorpions.

Lobo Career:Barba was a standout middle infielder at the University of New Mexico where he finished his career with an average of .340 while collecting 39 doubles, 19 home runs and 122 RBIs. A four-year starter with the Lobos, Barba capped his senior season as the Mountain West Conference leader in defensive assists (202) while finishing third in double plays turned (52).
