Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Stavanger, Norway
High School: St. Svithun, VGS
Major: Business
Experience: 1 Letter

Sophomore Katerina Jaeger has a season of college golf under her belt and Coach Jill Trujillo is expecting that to make a big difference in 2014-15.

“Katerina is a very talented golfer and she has the potential to be one of the best in the country,” said Trujillo. “Her mental game now needs to mesh with her physical game. That will come with experience and just getting older.”

One of Jaeger's best scores of the season is one that most Lobo fans don’t know about – and didn’t count on a tourney scorecard.  The talented freshman set an unofficial course record for the UNM Championship Course going 32-32—64 during a team qualifying round.  Which meant there was some pressure.

Katerina played 26 rounds for UNM this past season with her top scorecard of 229 posted at the 2013 Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invite.

Jaeger came to New Mexico from Norway, but the Lobo sophomore has some knowledge of college in America thanks to her father, Gunnar, earning his Masters degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

There are no high school athletic teams in Norway, so Katerina built the bulk of her golf resume in junior events.  She won a Norgescup event on the Norwegian Ladies Tour and also had two wins on the Team Norway Junior Tour. She won a silver medal in the 2011 Norwegian Junior Championship.  Katerina was ranked No. 1 on the Team Norway Junior Tour after the last event in 2013, prior to coming to join the New Mexico program.

Katerina's favorite athlete is Suzann Pettersen, a professional Norwegian golfer.  Her favorite New Mexico food is tacos and her favorite movie is "The Holiday" starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.

FRESHMAN (2013-14): Jaeger started her rookie campaign in a steady fashion scoring in the 70s in 16 of her first 17 rounds. She never cracked 78 in her final nine rounds.  She carded her season and career-best round of 75 in last year's Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. Her 229 card at last year's Branch/McGuire left her tied for 37th. She played in nine events for UNM last year and recorded 26 rounds. She finished 32nd at the Mountain West Championships.

Career Stroke Average: 79.85. Career Low Round 75. 2014 Stroke Average: 79.85.
