Team

The Lobos won the coin toss for the third consecutive week. They took the ball to start the game vs. UTSA and deferred against both UTEP and Pittsburgh.

Eight true freshmen played for the Lobos, a season high.

UNM’s 81-yard drive for a touchdown in the third quarter is was its longest drive of the season.

The Lobos forced four turnovers in a game for the first time since the 2012 season opener against Southern.

UNM had a season-high nine pass completions.

Offense

WR Jeric Magnant recorded his first reception of the season on a 3-yard screen pass in the first quarter. He finished with a career high four receptions for 19 yards.

True freshman RB Teriyon Gipson recorded his first career carry, a 9-yard run for a first down at the Pitt 21 early in the second quarter.

RB Crusoe Gongbay’s 42-yard run in the third quarter was a career-long. He finished with a career-high 95 yards on 10 carries. His 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was his first TD since Nov. 5, 2011 vs. San Diego State.

QB Cole Gautsche’s 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was his first rushing TD of the season. He had two rushing TDs on the day. It’s the fourth time he’s rushed for two scores in his career.

True freshman WR Dameon Gamblin recorded his first career reception.

Defense

FS Dante Caro picked off a pass on the first play from scrimmage, returning it 13 yards to the Pittsburgh 28. It was his second career interception and first this season. The interception was UNM’s first this season. Caro also recovered a fumble on a second-quarter punt, also his second career fumble recovery and first this season.

True freshman CB Jadon Boatright recorded his first career tackle in the second quarter.

DE Brett Bowers recorded his first career sack in the second quarter.

LB Dallas Bollema recorded his first interception of the season and fourth of his career in the second quarter to halt a Pitt drive that had reached the red zone.

Redshirt freshman SS Ryan Santos forced his first career fumble in the third quarter.

True freshman CB Isaiah Brown recorded his first career fumble recovery in the third quarter, returning the ball 5 yards to the Pittsburgh 29.

Trajuan Briggs recorded the first tackle of his career in the fourth quarter.

Special Teams

KR Carlos Wiggins’ 74-yard kickoff return to the Pitt 18 in the first quarter was his career-long.

K Justus Adams’s 28-yard field goal in the first quarter was his first of the season. He added a 22-yarder in the second quarter. He extended his career extra-points streak to 50, setting a school record. The old record was 47, set by .Joe Hartshorne fromn 1970-71.

Redshirt freshman DE Randy Williams made his first career return, a 10-yarder in the second quarter.
