Lobo Faithful:

New Mexico Lobo Soccer kicked off our move to Conference USA in grand fashion! We got back last night from a very taxing trip to West Virginia and have begun preparation for Friday night’s home match versus UNC Charlotte. I'm going to keep things short and sweet.

We've played two matches since my last Lobo Faithful update and the results have been mixed. Crazy season thus far but our players have been tremendous. Unified, confident, hard-working, committed… a mixture of managing stress, expectations and luck have been the difference. We wrapped up non-conference play against UC Davis last Friday night and played well. We didn't find the net and gave up a late one against the run of play….same story, different night. Teams are excited to play at our stadium, and we are getting everyone’s best. It’s the price to pay for being good and having an incredible home atmosphere. A problem everyone wants to have.

Quick and challenging turn-around for the conference opener 72 hours later, and the boys’ response was a fantastic one. I'm really proud of the team’s effort and quality of play but am disappointed with several of our results. Eight regular season games remain, we are playing very well, coming off a great offensiveness night and are in charge of our own destiny. I like this team and am very excited about what lies ahead!

LOBOS VS UC DAVIS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27TH 7:00 PM ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.

We played extremely well in the run of play, created great chances and dominated possession and opportunities. 18-4 advantage in shots, 11-2 corner kicks, out GK made "0" saves. We gave up a soft penalty kick early, missed a penalty kick and gave away a back-pass to our GK late for the winner. 2-1 win UC Davis. It was very discouraging to drop a match when you play so well. Even though a pattern had developed, we had an emotional "heart to heart" as a team and have moved on. We’re ready for great things. Our boys are focused, unified and confident. Our challenge is to deal with pressure and distractions at home (undefeated on the road this season) and enjoy the moment. Excited to get back on the field!

LOBOS VS MARSHALL UNIVERSITY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH 7:00 PM HUNTINGTON, W.V.

After a long day of travel Sunday, the boys didn't miss a beat. We came out firing and scored three "class" goals to bring home a 3-1 victory over a combative Marshall team. The lone blemish was off a very questionable penalty call from a deep set piece. I’m real proud of the team and it was great to see three goals from players we are counting on: Calderon, Hansen and McKendry. Good things to come!

We are ready to get on a streak! Really excited for Friday night’s home match versus UNC Charlotte at 7:00 P.M. Everyone is healthy and ready to go! Hope everyone can make it out for the match and support your Lobos.

Just shot todays episode of "Off the Pitch" with guest Ben McKendry.

Thanks for all your support and see you Friday night.
