Lobos Prepare For USTA/ITA Mountain Regionals

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Michaela Bezdickova, Lizette Blankers, Natasha Smith, and Dominique Dulski are headed to the University of Nevada-Las Vegas to compete in the 2013 USTA/ITA Women’s Tennis Mountain Regionals taking place Oct. 9-13.

Over 110 collegiate women tennis players are traveling to the Fertitta Tennis Complex to compete for a regional title. There are 19 different schools from the western region that will be participating in the event. The University of New Mexico will be matched up against several different schools from the Mountain West including Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Nevada, Utah State, Wyoming, and UNLV.

The four Lobos will be competing in both singles and doubles while in Las Vegas. They will be facing some tough match ups including UNLV’s Aleksandra Josifoska who is competing for her third consecutive regional singles title.

Bezdickova will also be a competitor to watch as she received the No. 6 seed in singles. She will bypass the first round of the 128 singles draw with a bye.

The tournament kicks off Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. (PST). The USTA/ITA Regionals will begin with doubles and follow up with singles.

The regional champions will advance to the 2013 USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in Flushing, N.Y., Nov. 7-10.
