Game Notes at Wyoming

The Lobos are 0-2 in the Bob Davie era when committing three turnovers in a game. They are 1-5 when committing more than one turnover.
New Mexico fought back from a 21-0 first-half deficit to tie the game at 24 on Cole Gautsche’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Kasey Carrier with 13:16 left in the game.
UNM passed for a season-high 179 yards on season highs of 24 attempts and 12 completions. It was the first game the Lobos surpassed the 100-yard mark in passing this season. The Lobos also had a season-high two touchdown passes and threw their first interception of the season. They were the last Football Bowl Subdivision team without an interception entering the game.
The Lobos had two 100-yard rushers in the same game for the third straight game.
QB Cole Gautsche established a career-high in pass attempts (21), completions (11) and yards (156). His previous highs came last season vs. Wyoming on Nov. 10 on Branch Field at University Stadium (8-for-15 for 155 yards). Gautsche ran and threw for more than 100 yards for the second time in his career, finishing with 113 rushing yards. His last double-100-yard feat came vs. the Cowboys last season (155 passing yards, 149 rushing yards). His 49-yard touchdown run in the third quarter was a season-long run.
WR Marquis Bundy had a career-high four receptions for 48 yards. It was his first multi-reception game since the season opener against UTSA. Bundy’s 23-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter was his second TD catch of the season and the first since UTSA.
QB David Vega threw his first career touchdown pass on the 23-yarder to Bundy, when Vega entered the game in the fourth quarter. He finished 1 for 2 for 23 yards, marking the first passing attempts of his UNM career.
WR Jeric Magnant’s 43-yard reception in the second quarter is his career-long. He finished with a career-high 55 receiving yards.
WR Ridge Jones’ 12-yard reception in the third quarter is a career-long.
RB Jhurell Pressley scored a touchdown for the second straight game with an 8-yard run in the third quarter.
RB Kasey Carrier recorded his first catch of the season, a 13-yarder in the third quarter for a first down. He caught his first career touchdown pass on a 24-yard screen from Gautsche in the fourth quarter. He finished with three receptions for 43 yards.
Gautsche finished with 113 yards rushing and Carrier finished with 104. It’s the third time this season each rushed for over 100 yards in the same game. It was the sixth career 100-yard effort by Gautsche and the 11th for Carrier.
LB Rashad Rainey recorded his first full tackle for loss of the season in the first quarter.
SS David Guthrie recorded a sack in the second quarter, his second of the season.
MLB Toby Ball forced a fumble in the second quarter, his first this season and the second of his career.
DE Jacori Greer forced his first fumble of the season in the third quarter and the second of his career.
CB SaQwan Edwards had a pass breakup in the end zone in the third quarter to prevent a score. It was his third PBU of the season.
WLB Dallas Bollema’s third-quarter tackle for loss pushed Wyoming back from the UNM 1 to the UNM 8 and forced a Cowboys field goal. It was Bollema’s first full TFL this season. He finished with nine tackles.
Dakota Cox finished with a career-high nine tackles and tied Bollema for the team lead.
P Ben Skaer recorded three punts of more than 50 yards Saturday (59, 56 and 56), giving him eight punts of 50 yards or more this season and 44 for his career. Wyoming returned his 59-yard punt nine yards, marking the first punt return of the season by a Lobo opponent. Skaer finished with a 51.2-yard average on five punts with a net of 46.2.
Crusoe Gongbay forced the first fumble of his career on a punt in the third quarter. Cranston Jones recorded his first career recovery.
K Justus Adams’ 30-yard field goal in the second quarter was his second straight successful attempt. He extended his consecutive extra-point conversions to 69.
KR Carlos Wiggins averaged 38 yards on two attempts.
