Team

New Mexico ended Air Force’s 14-year reign as Mountain West rushing champions. The Lobos’ 309.3 yards per game led the league.

The Lobos rushed for 306 yards against the Broncos, which was their fifth game of 300 or more rushing yards in 2013.

The Lobos have finished their season on the road in five of the last six seasons.

Offense

LT Darryl Johnson ran for 13 yards on a screen pass that was ruled a lateral for a first down early in the first quarter.

RB Crusoe Gongbay’s 18-yard touchdown run with 6:58 left in the first quarter was his sixth of the season.

QB Clayton Mitchem established a career high in carries with 15 and yardage with 66.

RB Teriyon Gipson set new career highs in carries (10) and yards (76). His 22-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was also a career-long and his fifth rushing TD of the season.

Defense

CB Cranston Jones was credited with a pass breakup in the first quarter, his fifth of the season.

CB SaQwan Edwards recorded a second-quarter sack, his second of the season.

LB Dakota Cox had his first career pass breakup in the second quarter to force a fourth down. He finished with 13 tackles to lead the team, and his 99 tackles this season led the team. He is the first freshman since Blake Irwin (131 tackles) in 1994 to lead the team in tackles. He averaged 12.6 tackles per game over his last five games.

LB Dallas Bollema had nine tackles to give him 290 tackles for his UNM career to finish ranked 20th in school history.

Special Teams

Ben Skaer had three punts of more than 50 yards, a 57-yarder to the Boise State 1 in the first quarter, a 55-yarder in the second and a 53-yarder in the third. The three give him 19 punts of 50 yards or more this season. He finished with 20 downed inside the opponents’ 20, which was a career high. He set a new UNM single-season record for average at 45.6 yards per punt.

Justus Adams hit a 42-yard field goal in the third quarter to tie a career long and convert his sixth consecutive field goal this season.

Carlos Wiggins returned five kickoffs for 129 yards to finish the season with a school-record 1,303 KOR yards this season. He finished the season averaging 29.6 yards per return
