Post Games Notes: New Mexico 73, San Diego 66

*The Lobos improved to 7-2 all-time against San Diego, and 5-1 in The Pit.

*Craig Neal is now 5-1 as a head coach with New Mexico, and he is 3-0 in The Pit.

*New Mexico has won 25 of its last 26 in the Pit, and 11 straight since losing 70-65 to South Dakota State on December 22, 2012.  Overall since the 2007-08 season, the Lobos are 95-11 overall in The Pit, and all-time UNM is 399-69 in non-conference games in The Pit.

*New Mexico has now hit a three-point shot in 734 consecutive games.  The last without a make was when UNM went 0-for-8 on January 3, 1991 against Colorado State.

*Alex Kirk recorded four blocks giving him a team-high 24 for the season.  He has had multiple blocks in 16 of the last 20 games, and all six this season.

*Alex Kirk recorded his sixth double-double in six games, his seventh straight dating back to last year, and his 16th of his career (active MW leader) with 21 points and 11 rebounds.

*Only Alex Kirk, Kendall Williams and Cameron Bairstow hit field goals for UNM in the first 31:45 of the game.  That ended when Hugh Greenwood hit a three-pointer to make it 52-48 Lobos.

*Kendall Williams went 16-16 from the line, topping his career high of 13 against Charleston Southern on 11-17-13. Williams has now has made a total of 425 career free throws, moving him to number six, beating Willie Long’s 422.

The 16-for-16 day was a school record for the best perfect night in history.  The previous best was 15-for-15, accomplished twice.  Ruben Douglas did it on February 5, 2002 against UNLV, and Phil Smith did it way back on February 12, 1981 against Wyoming.  Williams is now shooting .923 from the line this year at 48-of-52.

Turquoise Jersey & NB3 Auction Winners:Ted. J. Esparza, Raul Anata, Lana Tsinnajinnie, Jay Johnson, Brian Denton, Glynnis Price, Carlos Esparza, Richard Torres, Cindy Perner, Mark Fine, Jacob Maes, J. Pisto and Danile Martinez. A total of $7,510 were raised today, $7,325 from Lobo turquoise jerseys and $185 from Autographed NB3 items.  The NB3 Foundation will be in contact with winners. Proceeds from this auction benefit the NB3 Foundation and UNM American Indian Student Services.
