Phil Steele Honors Seven Lobo Football Players

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico football players Ben Skaer and Carlos Wiggins added to their collection of 2013 first-team Mountain West honors on Friday.

Skaer, the senior punter from Waterloo, Ill., and Wiggins, the sophomore kick returner from Plano, Texas, earned recognition from Phil Steele’s college football publication.

Wiggins also added another all-America honor, garnering fourth-team kick returner accolades from Phil Steele.

The Lobos had seven players earn all-Mountain West honors all together. Senior running back Kasey Carrier (Pearland, Texas) was named to the second team.

A quartet of UNM players earned third-team recognition. Senior center Dillon Farrell and left tackle Darryl Johnson received offensive recognition, and senior linebacker Dallas Bollema and junior defensive end Brett Bowers were named to the defensive list.
