Streaks and trends

*New Mexico defeated Utah State 67-58 to improve to 22-5 overall and 13-2 in the Mountain West. 

*New Mexico clinched no worse than a two-seed in the Mountain West Tournament

*New Mexico is now 3-4 when trailing at the half, and 2-1 in conference games.

*UNM is now 20-2 when shooting above 40% this season, 40-3 in the last 43, and 64-4 in the last three seasons.

*UNM has won 20 games for the 27th time, all occurring since the 1963-64 season.  UNM now has seven straight 22-win seasons, the longest streak in school history.

*UNM has held three straight opponents under 60 points, and 10 straight under its scoring average.

In-Game Notes

*The Lobos trailed at the break 27-26.  It was the 12th time in 15 conference games that UNM has allowed 31 points or fewer in the first half and the 8th time in the last 11 that UNM has allowed 27 or less.

*Kendall Williams, Cameron Bairstow and Chris Perez all won their 101st game.

*The Lobos were down eight at 47-39 and then went on a 23-5 run over the next 7:52 to take control of the game.

*New Mexico outrebounded Utah State 46-30, allowing just four second chance points.

*New Mexico's free throw defense continued its strong streak as Utah State went just 5-for-10.  UNM's last four opponents are 27-for-51 (.529).

Junior C Alex Kirk                  

*Had his 12th double-double of the season and 22nd of his career with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and added a career-high tying five assists and had four blocks.

Senior F Cameron Bairstow

*Scored 14 points, his 26th double-figure scoring game of the season.

*Had a double-double as he also had 11 rebounds, his seventh of the season and the ninth of his career.

*Moved up a spot into 26th place on the career scoring list ahead of Ike Williams with 1,091

*Moved into 17th place on the career rebounding list with 584

*Scored his 546th point of the season.  He entered the season with 545 points over his first three years.

 Senior G Kendall Williams

*Scored 10 points, his 26th double-figure scoring game of the season.

*Remained in ninth place on the list with 1,730

*Had two assists and is one away from tying the Mountain West career all-games and conference games records for assists (Oscar Bellfield of UNLV)

 Junior G Hugh Greenwood

*Played had nine points and six rebounds. 

Freshman G Cullen Neal

*Scored 12 points with three three-pointers, giving him his ninth double-figure scoring game of the season.

*New Mexico is now 9-0 when Neal records double-figure points.

Sophomore F Merv Lindsay

*Had a career-high four rebounds and hit his first career free throw.
