New Mexico –1 Air Force-0 (Exhibition)

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.  – For a second-straight weekend, the New Mexico Lobos faced a former conference rival in spring exhibition season as they downed the Air Force Falcons 1-0. The Lobos’ lone goal came on a converted penalty kick by Ben McKendry in the 57th minute after James Rogers was taken down in the box.

New Mexico held the advantage in shots (7-3), shots on goal (4-1) and corner kicks (9-3) on the stat sheet. The Lobos nearly got a second goal of the match when Rogers forced an Air Force save in the 66th minute. The Lobo attack also threatened in the 69th minute when Rogers launched a pass for Christopher Wehan who missed high on a shot from the top of the box.

Wehan was also a catalyst for the attack in the first half. The midfielder stole a pass and just missed connecting with a teammate on a cross in the box in the 16th minute. He again applied pressure in the Air Force half of the field seven minutes later when his long-range blast was deflected by the Falcon goalkeeper over the crossbar for a corner kick.

For the second-straight game, goalkeepers Patrick Poblete and James Schneebeck combined to record a clean sheet after Schneebeck spelled Poblete in the 60th minute of the match.
