Lobo JV Eighth at the Falcon Invite

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The University of New Mexico JV men's golf team finished eighth at the Falcon Invite in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The Lobos finished 5-over par (296-289-284=869) on the par-72, 7,301 yard Eisenhower Golf Club-Blue Course. Xavier won the team title at 19-under par, 9-strokes in front of Colorado State.

UNM was led individually by sophomore Guillermo Chavez at 1-under par (73-72-70=215). Chavez was the only Lobo under par and tied for 15th. Other UNM results were: sophomore Steve Saunders (74-73-70=217) and freshman Brandon Putnam (73-74-70=217) tied for 23rd at 1-over par and freshman Sean McNamara tied for 37th at 4-over par (76-70-74=220).

Medalist honors went to Jason Kokrak of Xavier at 12-under par, 3-strokes in front of Jared Becher of Nevada.

The UNM varsity men's golf team opens their season Monday, September 11, at the Invernes Classic.
