NEW MEXICO HEAD COACH Ritchie McKay
"I thought it was a grind-it-out Mountain West Conference game. One in which we did not defend like we did the other night, but Wyoming is a better offensive team. They have a point guard (Jason Straight) who is very, very effective. I thought they were in a little bit of desperation mode when [head coach Steve McLain] took out their five starters. A couple threes went down and they got their confidence back. We never panicked even when they cut the lead to three. I was proud of Al (Neale), Mark (Walters) and Javin (Tindall). We were so cognizant of Straight's penetration that we left their shooters."

on UNM forward Danny Granger:
"Danny was great. Offensively, he's such a difficult match-up. Wyoming chose not to double. I think they gapped a little bit and sunk. We were good offensively tonight."

WYOMING HEAD COACH STEVE McLAIN
on UNM forward Danny Granger:
"I think he's a good player. Our philosophy has always been with a guy like Granger, if you worry so much about him it will give other guys baskets, and we didn't want to do that. So we were content with that. He scored 30 points at our place and we won. So we were content to let him have his. The guys that stepped up for them were Chiotti and Neale. If they don't step up, we have a chance to win the game."
