ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- New Mexico softball hosts the UNM Classic this weekend at Lobo Field. The Lobos will take on Georgetown and Wright State during the two-day event. UNM is currently on a five game winning streak and will face both opponents for the first-time in school history. Georgetown has a 6-15 overall record while WSU is 5-10 this year. All the games will be available on gametracker with live video available through all-access on www.GoLobos.com.
New Mexico softball swept Oklahoma State in a three-game series last weekend and has won five consecutive games against Big 12 opponents dating back to the Lobo Invitational. UNM downed Missouri and Texas Tech in the final two games of the Lobo Invitational before sweeping OSU. The Lobos are led offensively by sophomore Sara Loeffelholz. Loeffelholz is hitting .429 with three doubles, a triple and a home run. Senior Lindsey Elcess leads the team with four home runs and has a .385 batting average. Senior Kelly Ninemire leads the team with a 1.68 ERA and a 5-2 overall record. The Lobos have used as many as four pitchers this season.
Wright State has won three of its last five games and is hitting .258 as a team. The Raiders are led by Kristen Bradshaw, who has a .388 batting average with 16 RBI, three triples and two doubles. WSU has four batters at hitting over .300 this season. The Raiders have thrown as many as four pitchers this season and is led by Allison Cox. Cox has a 2-2 record with a 2.95 ERA.
Georgetown is 6-15 overall and was swept by New Mexico State Wednesday and has dropped eight of its last 10 games. The Hoyas are coached by Pat Conlan and have three student-athletes hitting over .300. Jennifer Connell and Melissa Conners have seen time in the circle this year.
