Lobo Cross Country Finishes Third at New Mexico State Kachina Classic

LAS CRUCES, N.M.--- The University of New Mexico men's and women's cross country teams finished their second meet of the year on Saturday. After opening their season with a successful home meet, both the men's and women's teams traveled to Las Cruces, N.M. to compete in the New Mexico State Kachina Classic.

In the men's 8k run, Lobo Allen Pittman placed sixth with a time of 25:28.3.

On the women's side three Lobos placed within the top ten. Junior Emma Reed placed sixth with a time of 18:00.5. Following behind her was redshirt freshman Sarah Higgens with a time of 18:24.4 placing her in eighth. Sophomore Shawna Winnegar came in tenth with a time of 18:35:9.

Ashley Smalley and Alexandra Darling placed fourteenth and seventeenth, respectively.

The teams compete next at the Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational on Sept. 25 in Minneapolis, Minn.
