Swimming and Diving Signs Five National Letters of Intent

University of New Mexico head women's swimming and diving coach Tracy Ljone announced that five recruits signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.

"I am extremely happy with the group of girls we have signed in the early signing period," said Ljone. "I am excited to see what they will be able to do as a part of the UNM Swimming and Diving team. Not only are they all great swimmers, but they all excel in the classroom and are all genuinely the type of people I will be proud to coach."

Jocelyn Colella is a native of Austin, Texas. She swims for Westwood High School as well as the Texas Gold Swimming club team. The events she is expected to compete in as a Lobo include the backstroke and the individual medley. Colella was named a 2005-06 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a 2006 and 2007 High School All-American.

Maria Dudley comes from Overland Park, Kan., where she swims for St. Thomas Aquinas High School and the Kansas City Blazers club team. Dudley is expected to compete in the distance freestyle events. She was named to the second team all-State at the 2006 and 2007 Kansas Swimming and Diving State Championships. Dudley was also a member of the 2007 Eastern Kansas League championship team.

Tonya Gramstad is a native of Bentonville, Ark., and is expected to compete in the middle and distance freestyle events. She is a member of the Razorback Aquatic Club and attends Bentonville High School. Gramstad was a 2006-07 USA Swimming Academic All-American, a sectional qualifier and club team record holder in the 200-yard, 400-yard, and 800-yard freestyle, the 200-yard breaststroke, and the 200-yard individual medley. She was also the recipient of the Heil Mile Award from Arkansas Swimming Inc.

Megan Gugerty comes from Wildomar, Calif., where she attends Elsinore High School and swims for the MESA Aquatics club team. She is expected to compete in the sprint freestyle and the backstroke. Gugerty was a 2006 and 2007 CIF Section Division Qualifier.

Erica Stuart is a native of Richardson, Texas where she attends J.J. Pearce High School and swims for the City of Richardson club team. Stuart is expected to compete in the backstroke and individual medley events. She was a 2007 USA Swimming sectional qualifier, a 2006 and 2007 High School state qualifier and a member of the National Honor Society.
