ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The University of New Mexico men's golf team led the pack at the 2009 UNM Student Lettermen Run For Relief fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 15, raising the most amount of money among the Lobos' participating athletic programs.

All of New Mexico's men's golfers took part in the fundraiser, which raised over $2,300 according to Kim Feldman, the director of the UNM Alumni and Student Lettermen. The men's golf team has taken part in the event in each of the ten years the UNM Student Lettermen have held it, and have raised the most amount of money for seven straight years.

"I'm proud of the effort the guys put forth to raise money for such a great cause," coach Glen Millican said. "This is an event we do every year and it's the seventh year in a row we're the top fundraisers. I'm proud of what we've been able to accomplish."

Over 46 Members of the women's Swimming and Diving team, Track, Cross Country and Skiing teams took part in the run, as well as student athletic trainers. Proceeds from the run are used to support children with cancer.

The top individual fundraisers also hail from the men's golf team in junior Travis Ross, sophomore Shane McDonald, and former golfer Steve Saunders. The swimming team, paced by coach Tracy Ljone, ran 32 miles, the most amount of any of the participating teams.

The event is organized by the UNM Lettermen's Association and sponsored by the Alumni Lettermen's Association.
