ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Junior right-hander Cooper Eddy (West Des Moines, Iowa) was named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced this afternoon.

Eddy guided the Lobos to their biggest win of the year with seven innings pitched in a 4-1 victory over Texas Tech on March 16. The Red Raiders, who entered the game averaging over 11 runs per game, managed just four hits and one earned run with Eddy on the mound. Eddy struck out five and walked two before leaving the game after seven innings of work. Eddy also pitched 5.2 innings vs. Utah on Sunday, recording two strikeouts. For the week, Eddy posted an ERA of 2.84 in 12.2 innings pitched with seven strikeouts.

This is the second time this season Eddy has earned MWC Pitcher of the Week honors. He picked up his first award on March 8 after firing a seven-hit complete game win over UC Santa Barbara.

The New Mexico baseball team returns to action Wednesday, March 24 as it travels to New Mexico State. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
