The University of New Mexico's track and field team will host their third meet of the indoor season this weekend as teams will compete in the Cherry & Silver Invitational the Albuquerque Convention Center.
"The competition just keeps getting better and better each weekend," explained head coach Joe Franklin. "We have to be able to compete at this level."
Franklin and the Lobos are expected to host a full field of quality athletes as individuals seek NCAA qualifying times. Several athletes will be seeing the track for the first time this season.
Event-by-event results will be posted on the bulletin boards at the finish line corner of the facility, near the timing table. Complete HTML results will be available on www.GoLobos.com immediately following the meet.
LAST TIME OUT (Cherry & Silver Invitational Jan. 15)
Sophomore Thomas Trujillo ran a career best for the Lobos in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 21.77 at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Margo Tucker had an impressive freshman performance in the women's pole vault, finishing with a mark of 13-01.50, as she came close to breaking the UNM school record in her second collegiate meet. Amber Menke also competed for the Lobos in the event reaching a height of 12-07.50.
In the women's triple jump, Deanna Young finished second for New Mexico with a jump of 41-10.00 (12.75m). Lauren Jaramillo and Nathalie Busk both cleared the women's pole vault at the height of 11.07.75 (3.55m) to be two of four athletes to record the top mark of the day in unseeded competition.
