The Lobo volleyball team will have a different player blog each day during our trip to Argentina. Check back each day to see what we are doing. Pictures will become available as we get stronger internet access.

Today was by far my favorite day of the trip. We had a late night yesterday, getting back to the hotel around 2 a.m., luckily the coaches let us sleep in so I didn't get up until 11! At 11:30 we departed for Villa Carlos Paz, a beautiful town up in the mountains with a lake right in the center. When we arrived we split in to two groups, the staff went to lunch and the rest of us went sightseeing. My group had a delicious lunch of pizza, cheese fries, and nachos! YUMMY! Because it was Sunday, most of the shops in the town were closed so Sarah, Gayle, Kelsi and I walked down to the lake where we rented a four-person paddle boat! The boat was a little rusty and our life vests definitely wouldn't have done the job if we sunk, but we had a blast paddling in circles.
We met back at the bus at 3:30 p.m. but the staff was nowhere to be seen. We waited for ten minutes before we became impatient wondering what was holding them up. I got the idea to hide the bus so we could scare them whenever they did show up, but since neither the bus driver nor the guides spoke any English, our idea got lost in translation. Basically I said "Hide el autobus. Muy chistoso!" We piled on the bus and took off thinking we were playing a good prank, but as the bus pulled over down the road, we saw all the staff at a go-kart track! Apparently we were supposed to meet them there, so our guide, Pichu, tricked us! The team then went on to race the carts, with Justin, Jade's brother winning the race.
During the long ride back to the hotel the team got our daily siesta in. We left our hotel about 7 p.m. to go to our match against the Cordoba All-Stars, the same team we played last night. Our goal for the match was to win in three, which we did, 25-16, 25-15, and 25-11! The coaches decided to play a fourth game, which we also won 25-19. The gym was actually warmer tonight which was very exciting! After our game we went to an Italian restaurant, Il Gatto, where we had pizza and wine for dinner. Eating before 11 at night was a nice change of pace!
On a side note, there is a credit card advertisement on the wall in the gym which really cracked me up. In the U.S. on credit card ads the name on the card is something like Joe Smith or Jane Doe ... In Argentina, apparently Gustavo Barren is their Joe Smith!
We'll see you tomorrow!
