ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The New Mexico men's golf team earned a berth in the NCAA West Regional, the NCAA Division I men's golf committee announced Monday afternoon. The Lobos will head back to the Crosswater Course at the Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore., on May 20-22 as the ninth seed in the West Region. This marks the 20th consecutive year New Mexico has made postseason action.
UNM enters the championships with an automatic bid after winning the MWC Championships at the same Crosswater Course in Sunriver, Ore. Spencer Levin and Charlie Beljan were named to the All-MWC team, and Beljan was also named the MWC Freshman of the Year.
The Lobos join UCLA, Arizona State, Arizona, USC, BYU, Cal-Berkley, UNLV, Washington, Pepperdine, Colorado State, Toledo, UTEP, Central Florida, San Diego State, Stanford, North Carolina-Wilmington, Furman, Denver, New Mexico State, Cal-Riverside, Cal-Irvine, Coastal Carolina, Long Beach State, Louisiana-Monroe, Loyola of Maryland and Wright State. UCLA was the top seeded team in the West Regional followed by Arizona State and Arizona.
The NCAA Men's Golf Championships are divided into three regional sites and conclude with the finals June 1-4, at the Cascades Golf Course at the Homestead in Hot Springs, Va. Each regional site hosts 27 teams, with the top 10 in each region advancing to the finals.
