Lobos Third After Opening Round of National Invitational Tournament

TUCSON, Ariz. - Four players shot under par as the University of New Mexico men's golf team ended the first round tied for third at the 13-team National Invitational Tournament. The Lobos shot an opening round 8-under par 280 on the par-72, 7,094 yard, OMNI Tucson National Golf Course and trail TCU by just four strokes.

Individually UNM was led by senior Jay Reynolds who opened with a 3-under par 69 and is tied for 13th. Junior Jay Choi and senior Madalitso Muthiya are tied for 17th at 2-under par. Rounding out the scoring for New Mexico was junior Spencer Levin is tied for 29th at 1-under par and sophomore Charlie Beljan is tied for 48th at 1-over par.

The individual lead belongs to J.J. Killeen of TCU at 6-under par and leads a group of six golfers by one stroke.
