MURFREESBORO, TENN. --- The University of New Mexico men's tennis team, ranked No. 55, ended a three-match skid by beating No. 50 Middle Tennessee State 4-3 on Saturday. The Lobos improve to 2-3 on the season.
The Parkes brother, Chris and Johnny, even their season record at 4-4 with their third victory this year.
In singles, No. 35 Jones finished his perfect road trip with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Rocafort at the No. 1 spot. He won all four times he stepped on the court during the Tennessee road trip.
Playing No. 2, Johnny Parkes beat Morgan Richard 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) to give the Lobos the dual.
The third New Mexico point came when Chris Parkes beat Nowak 6-4, 6-4.
The Lobos return home for three matches in two days. The match against Northern Arizona begins things with doubles on Friday at 10 a.m. and ends the weekend on Saturday with singles starting at 7 p.m. New Mexico and Denver, ranked No. 66, clash on Friday at 6 p.m. The Lobos and Oregon Ducks begin play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
