ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- University of New Mexico women's soccer head coach Kit Vela announced today the signing of two more players to National Letters of Intent for the 2005 season, expanding the recruiting class to a total of seven players. The two student-athletes are defender Samantha Bevis and midfielder Carrie Aversano. Both hail from Lakewood, Colo. with Bevis coming from the same high school as senior Lobo goalkeeper Kristen Winters (Green Mountain High School).
In February, New Mexico signed forward Hannah Hand (La Canada, Calif.), midfielder Kaci Paetz (San Pedro, Calif.) and defender Krista Peterson (Fountain Valley, Calif.) to National Letters of Intent, and in late April, forward/midfielder Tabitha Bunch (Riverside, Calif.) and goalkeeper Kiani Wong (Honolulu, Hawai'i) also signed on to join the Lobos in the fall.
The recruiting class is not yet complete as Vela expects to add a few more players in the coming weeks.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner at sweeper/stopper at Green Mountain High School...first team all-conference honoree as a senior...second team all-conference honoree her freshman and junior years...second team all-state member junior and senior years...helped the Rams win the Jefferson County 5A league championship title her freshman, junior and senior years...led the team to a second place finish at state sophomore year...team finished as semifinalists at state freshman year and quarterfinalists her junior and senior years...member of the Colorado Girl's Soccer Academy (87's)...played as a sweeper/stopper for the 87's...helped the 87's win the state championship title her freshman year...nickname goes by: Sami.

Carrie Aversano Midfielder 5-5 Lakewood, Colo. (Bear Creek HS)
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner at forward, midfielder and sweeper...lettered her freshman and sophomore years at D'Evelyn High School and lettered junior and senior years at Bear Creek High School... also lettered one year in basketball at D'Evelyn... as a freshman was the soccer team's Most Improved Player....at Bear Creek, earned second team all-conference as a junior...first team all-conference honoree as a senior...made the Hall of Fame as a senior...named MVP junior and senior years...member of the Colorado Girl's Soccer Academy...played a sweeper and defensive back position ...helped club team win the league championship her freshman, sophomore and junior years...helped team place fourth in the Colorado State Cup as a junior...as a senior she helped her team capture second place at the Colorado State Cup...intends to major in Architecture at UNM.
