Nov. 29, 2012
The dreaded closing email of the 2012 season: a tremendous University of New Mexico Lobo Soccer season came to a disappointing and premature end last Sunday in Storrs, Connecticut. Our boys played dynamic, attacking soccer versus the UConn Huskies, but couldn't put away the chances which would have brought victory. We had great opportunities when up 1-0 and again in the final minutes of regulation when tied 1-1. Luck was not on our side and unfortunately, luck played a role in the final outcome, 104 minutes of beautiful soccer, only to end in the second period of overtime.

I will get a more in-depth email out in the next couple of weeks reviewing the 2012 season and the academic and on-field accomplishments of our players. 17-4-1 with wins over national powers UCLA, SMU and Virginia highlighted the season. Our six seniors will be greatly missed and their leadership will fuel the program for years to come. Vic Rodriguez, Travis Campbell, Levi Rossi, Blake Smith, Devon Sandoval and Nik Robson have set the bar high for Lobo Soccer.
Our program needs your financial assistance! We need to supplement our operating budget by approximately $50,000 per year to maintain our current standards. If you haven't already joined the Golden Goal Club, your membership is needed. The GGC is the Lobo Men's Soccer Booster Club and 100% of membership dollars go directly to our program. Thanks again for your incredible support this season and every season. Have a wonderful Holiday. GO LOBOS!
