Albuquerque, N.M- The No. 32 University of New Mexico men's tennis team captured another win on Saturday against Purdue winning 6-1 at the Lobo Tennis Complex. The Lobos improve to 13-2 and have won the last five matches in a row.
Graeme Kassautzki made an exciting comeback today in singles play and ultimately clinched the win for the Lobos. After winning the first set 6-4 the second set was all about the deuce and the advantage. Three separate games in the second set went back and forth between Kassautzki and Eric Ramos. Kassautzki was down 2-5 but came back to win the set 7-6 in a 7-3 tiebreaker.
Johnny Parkes kept the wins coming with an exciting victory over Slavko Bikelica. Parkes improves to 14-1 on the sping season winning 6-4, 6-4.
Phil Anderson kept things interesting today. After winning the first 6-3 Anderson started the second set down 1-2 against Paul Foley. Anderson slowly started making a comeback and brought the score to 5-4. After that the set was back and forth the rest of the set going five all, 6-5 New Mexico and Anderson clinched his victory ending the set at 7-5.
Miles Bugby split sets with Roberto Cabrini winning the first set and the third, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.
Ben Dunbar also split sets defeating Griff Nienberg, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1.
The Lobos will be back in action March 27 against Air Force at 10 a.m.
