Coach Don Flanagan on the overall game:
"I thought we shot pretty well the second half. We wanted to play well and out shoot them in the first four minutes of the second half. We fouled them and put them on the free throw line too much and that's something we have to work on. I thought we switched and helped real well but then ended up fouling late in the clock many times which is not a very strategic move. I'm pretty happy with transition, defense and shooting. We got a lot of people good minutes like Valerie, Sarah, Amy, and Lauren. We had a lot of people that contributed and that is what you want in a game like this."
Flanagan on SMU and the WNIT:
"They're a good team. They won 20 games this year so it's nice to beat a good team. This tournament is filled with good teams so obviously you're not going to have any rest. There are no easy games from now on."
SMU Head Coach Rhonda Rompola on the difference in the game and playing in the Pit:
"29 points from UNM's bench, zero from ours, 24 points off 3-pointers for UNM, zero points from 3s for us, that was the difference in the game. Coming to play in the Pit, the atmosphere is fantastic. I told my kids, "There's a lot of tradition and history here. This is great basketball atmosphere, go out and enjoy it". We didn't enjoy it. New Mexico played great. They have great shooters and I wish them well. I hope they run it."
