Sept. 23, 2003
Sophomore Wide Receiver Hank Baskett (Clovis, N.M.)
Question: How big of a deal is this, playing the Aggies?
Hank Baskett: It's about the in-state rivalry here. It's about pride and respect. It's one of the biggest games of the year so far.
Q: Even though you didn't play in the game against them last year, did it still stick with you that you lost?
HB: It stuck with me a bunch because I have a lot of friends who go to State or play for State and you know I heard it all year long so I'm ready to shut them up.
Q: What is it going to be like here on Saturday?
HB: It's going to be loud and wild. It's going to be everyone going 100 percent the whole game. It will be a very physical game.
Q: How do you think the atmosphere will be in the stands on Saturday?
HB: Oh I know the Lobo fans will be getting after them. I remember when they came here the year before it was getting pretty wild in the stands. Last year when I was injured, I was sitting in the stands (in Las Cruces) so I know what their fans are like, but I think our fans are going to give it back to them. It's how a good rivalry game should be.
Q: How good are they defensively?
HB: They have a pretty strong defense. They're playing good and they want to keep everything in front of them. They want to make you drive the field, but we're pretty good at driving the field.
Q: Any thoughts on why the offense hasn't clicked yet?
HB: I don't know. There is always that one little thing and I feel like it's coming together more and more each game. I think this game is going to be the game where it's going to click all the way and keep going for the rest of the year.
