ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- University of New Mexico catcher Rafael Neda added two more national honors to his resume on Monday. Neda was named to the Pro-Line Athletic/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division I Freshman All-America First Team and the Ping!Baseball All-Freshman Second Team.

Last week the 2008 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team as selected by Collegiate Baseball. Neda was an All-MWC Second Team honoree as well. The native of Obregon, Sonora, Mexico, batted .323 on the season with six home runs and 45 RBI in 49 games played. He led all MWC freshmen with 45 RBI and 16 doubles.

Neda is the fourth Lobo since 2002, and sixth in school history, to earn Freshman All-America honors. He joins former Lobos Travis Young (1994), Lon Yamaguchi (1996), Matt Young (2002), Daniel Stovall (2004), and Jordan Pacheco (2005) on the list of Lobo Freshmen All-Americans.

Neda is spending the summer playing for the Hays Larks of the Jayhawk League.
