HEAD COACH Joe Franklin"The guys got out well - maybe a little too well - early on, but they ran very smart, very well, worked very hard. You usually think back on what you could have done differently, but there was really nothing that we could've done to run better today. I thought we just did a really good job."
"Jacob (Kirwa) did a great job and ran a really, really smart race. He went out very conservatively and moved up the entire time. The way he approached the race today was awesome. Lee (Emanuel) gutted one out. He's not the biggest fan of cross country, but he got in there and really ran well for the team. Everybody out there was just very, very proud to wear that New Mexico uniform."
"The women's performance was unbelievable. They came in ranked 25th and ran extremely well. We didn't have a bunch of people way up there, but Ruth (Senior) ran an outstanding race and it was that way across the board. They didn't get out very well, but they moved the entire time. When we got the final results they were jumping up and down."
"We made a goal when we came to New Mexico to try to be top-10 in the first three years. That's what we talked to recruits about, being a top-10 team. We made it on the men's side, didn't quite get there on the women's side, but add them together and we're 10.5 and that's not bad."
"It's very rare that you can get both teams firing at the same time. The fact that we did is a testament to the entire support staff at UNM, from the doctors and massage therapists, and all the other people who do the little things that help us get to where we need to get to. There's great support within this program as well. The women expect the men to run well and the men expect the women to run well."
