LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The University of New Mexico women's basketball team defeated the Colorado State Rams, 62-48 in the second round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament inside the Thomas and Mack Center. Junior Amy Beggin led the way for the second night in a row with her first career double-double as she scored 20 points and equaled a career high with 10 rebounds. New Mexico improves to 22-9 on the season while Colorado State falls to 10-21.
The Lobos won a defensive battle and made the most of the opportunities provided by the Rams. New Mexico converted 22 turnovers in to 20 points. Offensive rebounds were also key for the Lobos as they pulled down 22.
Senior Angela Hartill continued her streak of double digit scoring with 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Hartill has now scored in double digits in nine consecutive games. Sophomore Amanda Best had another great game picking up eight points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the second straight game.
