New Mexico vs. Eastern New Mexico

Lobo Head Coach Don Flanagan
On the exhibition game against the Zia's:
"I don't think we played great defense tonight. I wanted to keep it in the 40's and we didn't. Our offense this year is more movement and less screening, and our defense against screening consequently isn't particularly good.

Offensively, we played everybody. I thought Lauren Taylor had good minutes. Jordan Unverzagt did okay, she had 12 points and hit her free throws. At first when she got in there she was lost, but then she relaxed and started playing better. Other than that, everyone contributed. We got 100 points, so I guess offensively we did pretty well." On the advantage over ENMU:
"They are undersized, so obviously we had a big mismatch inside. I thought we could have taken advantage of that a little bit more, with Valerie Kast and with Jessica Kielpinski. I think we could have done a better job there [exploiting the mismatch] and defending the low post. We needed to defend the low post, defend screens, and transition defense. I know when we had some of the younger players in there, they couldn't find their player. That's kind of disappointing, and something we have to work on.

That's what the exhibition is all about. It's a pretty easy win and I think we learned a little bit-we'll get better from now on.

Eastern New Mexico Head Coach Linden Weese
On playing the Lobos:
"It was nice to get this in. These guys are kind enough to let us come over and do this with them, and we have so much respect for the program and their staff. They're well coached and well prepared. I think we get a lot more out of it maybe than they do. We find out which of our kids will go compete, and I think we found that out tonight."

How scrimmaging a Division I team helps his players:
"I think it's huge. We don't see kids of this caliber in our league. We have a good league, but they're not nearly as big, or as quick or strong. I feel that if we can compete against these people, and not necessarily by looking at the scoreboard, but if we can see that our kids can get down and come compete, I find out a lot about them. And I liked what I saw out of our group tonight.

On the atmosphere of The Pit:
"It's one of the best atmospheres in the country. They've done a great job, and are getting ready to have a new building, getting it refurbished but it's going to be great for the fans. That's what really makes this building, the fans."
