RUIDOSO, N.M. --- The New Mexico football team held its second scrimmage of training camp Wednesday night and the emotions were high. The two-hour workout was the most intense to this point in camp, even after a 45-minute rain delay. The Lobo offense was 16-of-23 passing for 305 yards and 3 touchdowns. UNM pounded out 157 yards on the ground during the hour-and-a-half scrimmage at the White Mountain Athletic Complex. Wednesday was the final two-a-day workout for UNM.

The Lobo wide receivers dominated the scrimmage. Sophomore Ty Kirk had 114 yards receiving on 3 catches including a TD. Kirk had a scrimmage long reception of 50 yards from sophomore QB B.R. Holbrook.

Freshman Myles Daughtry had two catches and 2 TDs during the scrimmage, including a long of 33 yards. Daughtry's first catch was an over the shoulder grab for 25 yards. His second was possibly the play of the fall to this point. Daughtry caught the ball in the middle of the field around the 30-yard line and he darted his way through the first-team defense to the end zone. Daughtry finished the scrimmage with 58 yards receiving.

Senior WR Chris Hernandez made a diving catch for 40 yards. Hernandez fought off the darkness and a defender to pull in his only ball of the event.

The scrimmage started at 7 p.m. and continued until nightfall.

Holbrook was confident and looked like he belonged with the No. 1 offense. He was 9-of-14 passing for 242 yards and 2 TDs. His touchdowns went to Daughtry and Kirk.

Freshman QB Stump Godfrey was 3-for-5 passing for 27 yards and a touchdown. Godfrey also had eight carries for 50 yards.

Freshman QB Tarean Austin was a perfect 4-for-4 for 36 yards. Austin racked up 60 yards on the ground on six carriers. Both Austin and Godfrey were live Wednesday night.

Junior RB James Wright showed his power and potential with 10 carries. Wright rolled up 45 yards and a TD on the ground.

Seniors Bryant Williams and Nick Wilhelm both had big catches.

UNM returns to practice Thursday from 3:30-6 p.m. All practices are open to the public. For more information visit www.GoLobos.com.
