Albuquerque, N.M. --- The New Mexico softball program will host the Third Annual Lobo Softball Golf Classic on Sept. 8, 2007 at the Sandia Golf Course. The Golf Classic is a four person best ball scramble hosted by UNM softball and Land Rover of Albuquerque. The event is slated for an 8 a.m. tee time start with prizes going to the top three finishers, first place women or co-ed flight, closest to the pin and longest drive. A banquet will follow the tournament and will feature a speech from head coach Ty Singleton.
"Join us at the gorgeous Sandia Golf Club for our Third Annual Softball Golf Classic," said Singleton. "We have put together a wonderful event created to meet the team in a fun relaxed environment. The Softball Golf Classic is the perfect way to generate more support and interest in Lobo Softball than ever before. I am very excited about the future success of this program and our new state of the art facility. Your support is vital to the future of our program and to the overall success of our student athletes. Thank you, and see you on the green."
Singleton enters his second season at New Mexico after guiding the Lobos to a 20-25 overall record last season and a 9-11 mark in the Mountain West Conference. UNM made remarkable steps in the rebuilding process during his first season and have the pieces in place to contend for a conference championship in 2008.
Anyone interested in participating in the Third Annual Lobo Softball Golf Classic can register by printing off the flyer and mailing it into the softball office or by contact the Lobo softball program at (505) 925-5812.
