New Mexico outside hitter Lisa Meeter has earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking the first weekly honor of her career.
Meeter, a 5-10 senior from Colorado Springs, Colo., was named Most Valuable Player after leading the Lobos to the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational title in Tampa, Fla., last week. Overall, New Mexico posted a 4-0 record on the week. She collected a double-double in three matches, starting with a 14-kill, 10-dig performance in a five-set win over non-conference rival New Mexico State. In a tournament-opening four-set win over South Florida, she registered eight kills, 13 digs and three service aces. In a sweep of Jacksonville, Meeter tallied 14 kills, 12 digs and one assist. In the championship contest vs. Florida Atlantic, Meeter had 19 kills, 14 digs and four blocks as the Lobos clinched the tournament title with a four-set win.
For the week, Meeter averaged 3.44 kills, 3.06 digs and 0.25 blocks per set, while hitting .315 (55-14-130). She also accounted for 3.84 points per set in 16 total sets.

Against San Diego State (5-7, 0-0 MWC) ... This will be the 45th meeting between the Lobos and the Aztecs. San Diego State holds a 27-17 advantage in the series, but the Lobos have won seven of the last eight meetings between the two teams.
Next Week ... The Lobos host Air Force and UNLV on Homecoming weekend. The Falcons come to town for a Thursday night match-up on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. The Rebels will be the guest on Homecoming Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Johnson Center
The Lobos received votes in the AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll for the first two weeks of the season. Currently, four Lobo opponents are receiving votes in the poll - No. 1 Stanford, No. 5 Hawai'i, No. 6 USC and No. 18 Colorado State.
Senior Lisa Meeter was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week for her performance against New Mexico State and at the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational. Meeter is closing in on 1,000 career kills, 1,000 career digs and 100 career service aces.
Senior Taylor Hadfield, a 2009 AVCA honorable mention All-American, has been named to four all-tournament teams this season - the MCM Elegante Lobo Classic, the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Classic, the Comcast Lobo Challenge and the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational.
Senior Jade Michaelsen has been named one of the Top 30 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The award recognizes seniors from all over the country for their achievements in competition, classroom, community and character.
The Lobos' match on Nov. 13 vs. Wyoming scheduled for The Pit has been moved back to the Johnson Center due to scheduling conflicts.
About New Mexico (8-5, 0-0 MWC) ... New Mexico's 3-2 win over New Mexico State on Sept. 14 was the first win in the series at Johnson Center since Sept. 24, 2002 ... Recorded 500th program win on Friday, Sept. 10 when the Lobos beat SMU, 3-1, in the second round of the Comcast Lobo Challenge. The program is in its 36th year of varsity competition and has a record of 504-521 ...The Lobos won the Hilton Garden Inn Invitational in Tampa, Fla. with wins over South Florida, Jacksonville and Florida Atlantic. Senior Lisa Meeter was named the tournament MVP, while senior Taylor Hadfield and junior Ashley Rhoades joined her on the all-tournament team ... UNM will face 10 teams receiving votes in the preseason poll this season ... The Lobos were picked fourth in the 2010 Mountain West Conference Preseason Poll, eight points out of second ... Senior setter Jade Michaelsen was named to the All-MWC Preseason Team ... Michaelsen and senior outside hitter Lisa Meeter are the team captains for 2010.
About San Diego State (5-7, 0-0 MWC) ... The Aztecs started the season 5-1 before losing their next six, including top 25 matches against Hawai'i, San Diego and Minnesota. Kyley Sexton leads the team with 3.40 kills per set. Johnna Fouch leads the league with 10.95 assists per set, while Kristi Jackels leds SDSU in digs with 3.66 per set. Andrea Hannasch leads the front row defense with 1.24 blocks per set.
