Lobos Remain in Ninth After the Second Day of Nike Cup

The University of New Mexico women's swimming team remains in ninth place after the second day of the Nike Cup Invitational hosted by the University of California Irvine. The Lobos currently have a total of 197 points.

Sophomore Ashley Grisdale had the best individual finish for the Lobos placing 11th in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 4:29.95. Senior Andrea Zarins placed 22nd in the same event (4:37.72). In the 100-yard backstroke senior Tori Clarridge finished 14th with a time of 59.40. Also placing 18th in that event was sophomore Lisa Toelle (59.45). The 200-yard medley relay team of Toelle, Hilo, Grisdale, and Clarridge, finished in 11th-place with a final time of 1:50.54.

Sophomore Jennifer Patterson placed 17th in the 100-yard butterfly (57.96), followed by an 18th-place finish from teammate Wilmarie Velez Santiago (58.48), and Katrina McLoughlin (58.76) who finished 21st. A 19th-place finish came from sophomore Theresa Rogers in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.72). Junior Carly Hilo immediately followed in 20th-place (1:07.87).

The Lobos will continue competition tomorrow in the final day of the Nike Cup.
