TUCSON, Ariz. - The Lobos completed the sweep today with a 6-2 win over Cal State Northridge to move to 2-2 on the season. New Mexico will play Arizona in the championship game of the Arizona Softball Pepsi Classic tomorrow at 12 p.m. PST.

The Lobos would get on the board first in the third inning thanks to a Matador error. Senior Sabrina Sandberg reached base on a miscue by Kia Fennell and came around to score on a double by sophomore Stephanie Kennedy to make it 1-0 UNM.

In the fourth, the Lobos would break it open to take a 5-0 lead. Freshman Becky Dover led off with a walk and was pinch-run for by sophomore Jamar Bynum. One out later, junior Cassie Chavez singled Bynum to second. Another error by Fennell with senior Ora Hensley batting loaded the bases for Sandberg, who walked to make it 2-0. Junior Kelli Edelbrock was then hit by a pitch to make it 3-0. Freshman Ryanne Hodgins followed with a single to right-center to plate a pair to make it a five-run advantage.

Northridge would attempt to get back in the game, scoring two in the fifth. Laura Hovestreydt singled to lead off, while Christy Menefee followed with a walk. One out later, Christen Bedwell singled to center to score Hovestreydt to make it 5-1. Another out later, Monique Lovell singled to left to score Menefee, making it 5-2. The Lobos would get a run back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Hensley.

Sandberg led the Lobo offense going 2-2 with one RBI and drawing one walk. On the mound, senior Amy Dumas picked up the win going 4.2 innings. Dumas gave up seven hits and struck out four. Pitching in relief, sophomore Iraina Ogas threw 2.1 innings allowing no hits and striking out two.
