ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Junior Bobby Moore wrapped up the Lobo Baseball Cherry & Silver Fall Series with a big performance in the Silver's 11-3 victory on Thursday afternoon at Lobo Field. The outfielder/pitcher from Edgewood, N.M. was three-for-three with a homerun, two runs scored and three RBI. He also pitched an inning of relief for the Silver. Silver won the Fall Series, 4-1.
Moore was one of five players for the Silver to have multiple hits in the outing. Center fielder Adam Courcha and catcher Drew McDonald each had three hits in the game, while shortstop Mike Brownstein and left fielder Derek Pilkington each had two.
After a scoreless first inning, Silver scored three runs off a double by McDonald and a single by Pilkington. The visitors built to an 11-0 lead after five and a half innings before the Cherry was able to plate a run.
Junior Brian Cavazos-Galvez put the Cherry team on the board with an RBI triple to right-center field in the bottom of the sixth, scoring Bret Fanning. The Cherry put up two more runs in the bottom of the seventh for the final, 11-3.
For the five-game series, McDonald led all hitters with a .600 batting average, while Moore followed with .579 and a team-leading 11 hits. Also for the Silver, Ian Hollick hit .556 with 10 hits and a team-leading seven RBI. Pilkington ended up with a .500 average and tied Hollick with seven RBI.
For the Cherry, third baseman Dane Hamilton led the hitters with a .412 average and a team-high seven hits.
The 2008 Lobo baseball season begins on Friday, Feb. 22 against Eastern Michigan at Isotopes Park. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
