LAS VEGAS, NEV.--The first day of the UNLV Fall Tournament is in the books with one Lobo advancing to semifinals in singles, two Lobos advancing in singles consolation, and one doubles team advancing to the quarterfinals in the main draw. Mads Hegelund, Matthew Neeld, and Ian Supple will be advancing in singles, and McDaniels/Hegelund to quarterfinals in doubles main draw.
In flight one of singles, Mads Hegelund was defeated by Auburn University's Alex Stamchev ranked 57 in the nation with a score of 7-5, 6-2. He made up for the loss by defeating Arkansas University's Hall Fess with a close score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. He will be advancing to the next round in consolation.
Mitch McDaniels was fell to Fresno State's Zachary Leslie with a score of 6-3, 6-2. He lost in consolation to University of California-Irving's Ryan Cheng with a score of 6-3, 6-4.
In flight two of singles, Matthew Neeld fell to Auburn University's Dennis Lengsfeld ranked number 54 in the nation with a score of 6-2, 6-1. He bounced back defeating UNLV's Willie Sublette with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. He will be advancing to the next round in consolation.
In flight three of singles, Ian Supple defeated Northern Arizona's Rob Martin with a score of 6-4, 6-1. He will be advancing to the semifinals.
In flight one of doubles, McDaniels/Hegelund defeated Northern Arizona's Schimmelbauer/Bermudez with a score of 8-5. The duo will be advancing to the quarterfinals.
Neeld/Supple fell to UNLV's Bull/Markel with a score of 8-0.
Play will begin tomorrow at 9 a.m.
