Up Next: The 10th-ranked University of New Mexico men's soccer team kicks off the 2007 season with a pair of exhibition matches this week in Fort Wayne, Ind. The Lobos will be tested by two of the top teams in the nation in No. 11 Notre Dame and No. 8 Indiana.

This weekend's matches are a part of the National Soccer Festival at the Fort Wayne Sport Club and feature some of the top college soccer programs in the nation. The Lobos take on the Fighting Irish on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 4:30 p.m. (M.D.T.) and face the Hoosiers on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 4:30 p.m.

New Mexico has faced both teams in recent years, getting a win against Indiana in the regular season and tying the Irish in exhibition play. The Lobos tied Notre Dame 1-1 on Aug. 22, 2005, in South Bend, Ind. Seniors Blake Danaher, David Gualdarama and Mike Graczyk all started that game while Joey Vitagliano saw 21 minutes off the bench. The rise of Lobo soccer can be traced back to their only match against Indiana on Sept. 19, 2004. In that game, Danaher scored the game winner with 13 second left in double-overtime to down the No. 1 ranked Hoosiers. That win at the UNM Soccer Complex shot the Lobos into the top-10 for the first time in school history. Gualdarama is the only other current Lobo to see time in the match against the Hoosiers.
