ALBUQUERQUE, NM - The University of New Mexico women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season with a close 59-52 victory of The Titans of Cal State Fullerton (0-2). Junior Mandi Moore led the Lobos with 13 points, eight rebounds and dished out six assists. Junior Lindsey Arndt also chipped in 12 points.

Cal State jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead in the first 2:30 minutes of the game, before Lobo freshman Katie Montgomery nailed a 3-pointer to tie it at 11. UNM junior Jenny Shetters put the Lobos on top for good with a under-handed lay up at the 9:10 mark of the first half. Although the Lobos shot a dismal 35.1 percent from the field during the first half, they managed to head into intermission with a 34-27 lead.

The Titans started the second half in the same way they began the game, bringing the Lobos to within three points at the 16:23 mark. Mandi Moore dropped two buckets in a row extending the Lobo lead to 43-34, Fullerton would use timeouts and mini runs to eventually close the gap to six but UNM would hit a couple of shots down the stretch to hold on for the victory.

Cal State sophomore Amber Pruitt collected a double-double in the losing effort, scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 boards.

The Lobos will play host to Youngstown State on Friday night, during the second game of the Holiday Inn Mountain View Invitational. Tip off is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at The Pit.
