Through the close of business on Thursday, Aug. 26, the University of New Mexico had sold a school-record 14,889 season football tickets, breaking the old mark of 14,801 set last year. The Lobos open the season on Friday, Sept. 3, hosting Washington State at 6 p.m. in a nationally-televised game on ESPN. A sellout crowd in excess of 37,000 is expected. "I can't begin to tell you how much that record means to our football team," said head coach Rocky Long, who begins his seventh season at his alma mater. "The players really get pumped up when they hear that number. They're a little tired of practice and hitting each other right now, so that's a big lift as we prepare for next week's game against Washington State." The ticket office at The Pit is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Single game tickets are available online at unmtickets.com, by calling (505) 925-5858, at the UNM athletic ticket office at The Pit, at the UNM Bookstore box office and at all Raley's and Western Wearhouse locations. Ticket office hours at The Pit are 8:30-5 Monday through Friday. Call (505) 925-5626 for more information.
